Email From A Resident

I received the following email from a Crestwood Resident. I am withholding the writers name until I receive permission to use it:

…….. I currently live in the condos on 128th & Central. My wife and I have been shopping homes in Crestwood to start our family. I am the President our Association as well as the President of The Crestwood Co-Op which includes 5 buildings (so far).

The rebate was a major selling point in Crestwood real estate in the past. Whenever the real estate was spoken of you could be sure that mention of the rebate was not far behind. We actually decided on the Crestwood condo over one in Tinley because of the rebate

Do you really plan on bringing it back? This is a big point with many people I have spoken with many that are also undecided on which guy to vote for.

Thank you

Dear (Name Withheld),
You can be assured that I am absolutely serious about returning the property tax rebate to Crestwood residents. Not only do I want to do this, I have a plan in place that I am confident will prove effective in achieving this goal.

The entire US economy has been rocked since 2008 but fortunately for Crestwood, our Village finances were always solid and the economic downturn has had little impact on us compared to other suburban towns and major cities. This is an important factor that should be taken into consideration by anyone who is planning on purchasing a home and raising a family in the south suburbs.

Besides working to keep our Village finances solid, I have also been working hard to bring additional businesses into our village. In the next few weeks and months, I hope to announce the relocation of several major companies into our village. As I have promised, I intend to use the additional tax revenues from these new developments to reinstate the property tax rebate for our residents.

Crestwood is a great place to live and a great place to raise a family. I know this because I have raised my family here and I am committed to ensuring that it remains great for future generations.

I hope my response conveys my sincerity.

Thanks for your question.
